How To Play The Sax. Welcome to the Fourth step of your adventure in learning how to play the saxophone.
By now you will have learned B, A and G will happily be playing BAG's everywhere.
So it's time to put these notes to some use.
So what can you do with B,A,G.?
Let's try playing a little tune
Ok, so sax at the ready, lets see what we can do now we've learned the first three notes
Starting on B, either tonguing or slurring, or both if you wish and try this.
Play B and then onto A and then G.
Play B and A just a little shorter than a second each and finish by playing G, for about 2 seconds.
Don't be too concerned about the length of time you play the notes, just ensure that B and A are of the same duration and G is about 2 to 3 times longer.
So you should be playing somthing like this:
Did you manage it? It's not too difficult to do.
If you can see if you can make the G fade out. Repeat this twice and see if you can guess the nursery rhyme it starts.
No, I'm not going to tell you what it is but let me know if you guess it. A clue. Don't go running around blind to what you are playing.
We've got three notes nailed now it's time to continue to learn to play the sax by increasing the amount of notes in our repetoire.
You can, if you want, stay here and continue to mess about with B, A and G or if you feel ready you can move on and learn the rest of the notes in the lessons.
