Saxophone PlayersSaxophone Players. We want them. There must be hundreds if not thousands of sax players out there. There is no doubt if I tried to do a definitve list someone would say what about xxxxx! To which I'd probably say "Oh xxxx! I forgot them!" With that in mind you can make your own recommendations There are few criteria to follow Please don't nominate young Tommy from down the road who played 3 blind mice for you once They must be recognised as a known sax player We would also like to know who they've played with and any songs/tunes we might know because of them It would also be good to know why you think the sax player you recommended should be in the list Follow the above and we will make sure your comment is added to saxophone players Who do you want on the list?Do you know someone you think should be on the list. Saxophone players - Walter Bordonaro AKA Walter & Unsafe Sax
The guy can really play the Blues. Check him out myspace (Walter & Unsafe Sax) Clarence Clemons Just have a listen. E-street band is awsome!
Kenny G and Dave Sanborn
When I progressed to the sax (alto) from the flute, Kenny and Dave were the first ones that pulled on my 'heart strings'. That was 28 years ago. Gato Barbieri One of the best sax and trumpet players world wide of all times Clarence Clemons The Saxaphone player and long term member of the E Street Band.
Saxophone players - Manu Dibango
Manu Dibango is one of the best saxophone player alive. Born in 1933, he started playing sax at the age of 16, and is still around.
Stanley Turrentine
Because he was amazing.Played with Art Blakey early in his career, then mostly as a leader. Saxophone players - Kenny G He can play that sax from the lowest low's to the highest high's with such great intensity and passion!
Famous saxophone players - Lenny Pickett
Lenny is the current SNL band leader and was part of Tower of Power for a decade, and he does his own compositions with his own unique sound. Saxophone Players - Art Pepper I think Art Pepper should be on the list because he escaped the powerful, dominant influence of Charlie Parker in the 1950s and he created his own sound.... Saxophone Players - Benny Carter superb tone. Excellent technique. A most lyrical improvisor. Plus he was a succesful composer and arranger in his own right.
Saxophone Players - Candy Dulfer
How about Candy Dulfer, the Dutch female player? She learned from her father Hans Dulfer, himself quite accomplished as a saxophone player. Saxophone Players - Sam Butera Sam Butera played with Louie Prima. One of the best sax players ever. He passed away little over a year ago. He needs to be on this list. Thank you
Saxophone Players - Butch Thomas
Conrad ?Butch? Thomas may be new to the charts in the United States, but Saxophone Players - paul desmond the ease with which he comes in and out of melodic riffs. Clarence Clemens- the E street band He is a great sax player, but also for sheer notoriety! The big man is on the sax!
Saxophone players
Some other guys I have heard: Saxophone Players - Clarence Clemons Clarence Clemons should be on the list. He's Bruce Springsteen's Big Man. A Legend!!
Saxophone Players - Phil Woods
Phil Woods should be added to your list of sax greats. Grammy award winner for "Showboat" album, Downbeat awards and others. Saxophone Players - Kenny G. I think that Kenny G.should be on your list of sax players because his ability to play the instrument is uncanny to me. |
