YAS62

YAS62. The YAS 62 Yamaha Alto Saxophone is the step up to the professional range of saxophones offered by Yamaha. The new model is an improvement on the old 62 which was and still is extremely popular. So if your thinking of maling the jump to a pro level sax from your old Yas275 or Yas475 you may want to think about a Yas 62. The YAS 62 also plays in Eb and comes with a choice of either the standard gold lacquered finish or with a silver plated finish. This is signified by an S added to the YAS 62(S). It is supplied with high F# key, hand engraved bell, polyester key inlays and as usual the right thumb rest is adjustable. Surprisingly fo a pro model it will come with a Yamaha 4c mouthpiece. You'd think they would splash out a bit to enhance the package.

As a professional model it offers superb quality intonation and rapid and accurate key response and alignment. It also takes some of it's design from the custom series of Yamaha saxes.

YAS62 Prices

Currently the prices seem to vary from about £1500:00 all the way up to £1999:00. Wow, a £500 price difference is a substantial amount and I wonder how these online stores can justify such a price difference or even sell them at the higher price. Surely we all shop around don't we?

Used Price

You don't see a vast amount of these coming on the market but the last one I saw had a starting price of £1000. I'm sure the bidding price went higher than that though and realistically I would be prepared to pay around £1200 for an instrument in quality condition. Bear in mind the YAS 62 is a pro sax and as such it will most likely have been well looked after.
